Where will you use it?

Use cases load editable examples and replace your current list. Appliance needs matter more than the size of your home or site.

Your equipment.

Add what you need.

GT Power reference figures are used for matching equipment types. Additional Generator Shop examples are labelled. Check your equipment’s actual input and starting watts; you can edit every item.

This is a planning tool for single-phase equipment. Have GT Power confirm starting performance, power factor, outlets and any installation requirements. Your equipment list stays in this browser tab’s session.

A little understanding.
A better starting point.

How is my generator size calculated?

We add running watts × quantity for everything in your list. Minimum rated output is that running total divided by your target load percentage. For example, 2,800W at 70% needs at least 4,000W rated output. Where you supply starting figures, we add the largest extra starting demand to the running total, assuming one item starts at a time.

What if I don’t know the starting watts?

GT Power reference items include published starting wattages. Additional Generator Shop examples may not supply them; those fields stay blank until you add the actual figures. A fridge, pump or compressor can need substantially more power to start. Until these figures are confirmed, the results are a running-load shortlist. Check the equipment manual or discuss the complete setup with GT Power.

Inverter or conventional?

Inverter generators provide pure sine wave power for sensitive electronics. Conventional generators offer engine-driven power for many site and backup applications. The calculator shows both types; choose a filter to narrow your shortlist, then check the full product specifications.

What about large or three-phase setups?

Speak to the GT Power team for three-phase loads, welding equipment, multiple motors starting together or whole-site installations. Combined-phase generators are excluded from automatic matching because available output depends on the phase and outlet configuration.

Running and starting reference figures follow the GT Power buying guide. Additional equipment examples and use-case quantities are adapted from Generator Shop’s calculator. Results use GT Power’s published rated and maximum outputs. Confirm current model specifications and application suitability with the team.
